Recently Redmi brand has released two new smartphone models. Today we will talk about one of them — the brand new Redmi Note 8 Pro with a high-resolution camera and gaming capabilities. Let’s make a brief review to summarize the pros and cons of the device.
Package Contents
Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with USB Type-C charging cable, user manual, SIM needle, and transparent protective case. But anyway, according to the tests, the users can freely use the smartphone without the case because the rear panel is covered with corning glass.
Design
Redmi Note 8 Pro was released in three colors: black, white and jade. Especially the white one looks quite interesting because it shines in different colors.
The design and layout of elements are similar to Redmi K20 Pro.
The front and rear panel is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
So the users shouldn’t worry about scratches on the device.
The rear panel has an AF coating, but on the black model, the fingerprints are visible, just a little bit.
Redmi Note 8 Pro is splash-proof (IP52).
Display
The model has a 6.53″ IPS LCD display which occupies 91.4% of the front panel. The resolution is 1080×2340 pixels and the aspect ratio is 19.5:9.
The colors look bright and rich. There is a small dot notch for the front camera.
Performance
The model is also positioned as a gaming smartphone. Redmi Note 8 Pro features octa-core Mediatek Helio G90T processor and integrated graphics Mali G76 MP4. The smartphone has a liquid cooling system and the gaming acceleration mode Game Turbo 2.0.
The model has scored at AnTuTu more than 280 000 points.
In terms of connectivity, it supports 4G VoLTE networks.
Camera
The model features a quad camera setup. Three camera sensors are placed in a vertical line and the fourth (depth sensor) with a LED flashlight is placed beside them.
This is the first smartphone in Xiaomi and Redmi model line that is equipped with 64 MP camera sensor.
The camera setup consists of:
- Main sensor (64 MP by Samsung)
- Wide-angle sensor 8 MP (f/2.2)
- Depth sensor (2 MP f/2.4)
- Macro sensor (2 MP)
The front camera consists of one 20 MP sensor. It supports AI algorithms, portrait mode, Studio Light effect and has a lot of pre-installed filters.
Battery life
Since the model is positioned as a gaming smartphone, a capacitive battery for the smartphone was a must. The model is equipped with 4500 mAh battery, that allows the user to play games up to 9 hours. Unfortunately, wireless charging support is not provided. The fingerprint sensor is situated on the rear panel.
The model also includes Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, IR sensor, stereo speakers and even the 3.5-mm audio jack.
