Xiaomi may not be the first name an avid audio listener may think about when it comes to speakers but the company is very competitive. It already has a good range of portable speakers that have ergonomic design, sound good and boast a long battery life. Recently it has added a new member to its speaker family — an upgrade for Mi Internet Speaker.
Mi Internet Speaker 2 features rectangular aluminum alloy body that only comes in white. It measures 154.5 × 60 × 25.5 mm and weighs 155 grams. The device is quite compact and lightweight to be carried around and allows one-handed grip. Its bottom is equipped with two rubber feet to keep it in place.
The speaker sports an AUX port to hook to devices that do not have Bluetooth like computers, MP3 players etc. If you prefer playing music on your device via external speakers wirelessly Mi Internet Speaker 2 supports Bluetooth 4.2 that works up to 10 meters away.
You have several options for controlling the device: you can use two buttons on top of it that allow to power on/off and change volume up/down or it can be controlled from a smartphone app.
Mi Internet Speaker 2 promises a loud and qualitative sound reproduction. It boards two speakers 2.5W each and passive radiator, which is a decent pack to allow the sound to fill a small room. The speaker also supports a call function thus you can answer and hang up calls with it. An embedded CVC noise reduction technology permits to transmit speech several meters away so you do not need to stay too close to the speaker all the time.
Finally, there is a 1200 mAh lithium-polymer battery that is rated for 10 hours of battery life.
