Xiaomi Launches the Dual Camera Mi Mix 2S with the Snapdragon 845 SoC

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is the next generation flagship.

Mi Mix 2S is Xiaomi’s first phone that will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC.

The Mi Mix 2S is made of ceramic with an aluminum frame and has a curved edge.

On the front, we have a 5.99-inch display with even narrower bezels. The top and side bezels are almost invisible, while the front camera located on the bottom bezel, just like the Mi Mix 2.

What really amazes is major SoC upgrade brought by the Mi Mix 2S.

The latest-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip, which is used in the Galaxy S9 and the S9+.

The Snapdragon 845 has four Kryo 385 Performance semi-custom CPU cores based on the ARM Cortex-A75 and four Kryo 385 Efficiency semi-custom cores based on the Cortex-A55, paired with the Adreno 630 GPU. The SoC is paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB of storage, and the phone does not have a microSD card slot. Who needs that with 256 GB storage?

The back intrigued us with upgraded vertically placed 12 + 12MP dual cameras. The primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and SLR-like bokeh effect thanks to SONY IMX363 sensor, 1/2.5″ sensor size and 1.4 μm pixels(Mi Mix 2 had 1.25-micron pixels).

It also has AI scene recognition — the camera can recognize 206 scenes across 26 categories.

The secondary camera has a 1/3.4″ sensor with a telephoto lens and 2x optical zoom.

The 8MP front camera enables users to take “AI”-powered portrait photos with bokeh.

The Mi Mix 2S is the first Xiaomi phone to feature wireless charging support. It supports the Qi industry standard with 7.5W charging. The company also launched its own charging pad.

The phone comes with Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE, dual SIM slots, and a USB Type-C port.
